The Procurement, Assurance and Legal Group implements and maintains business rules and systems that enhance the efficiency and integrity of the department’s procurement and contracting processes. The group also ensures that the department meets its external reporting obligations for procurement, and manages the department’s main corporate contracts.
Procurement reporting is conducted via BUYiT, which has direct links with SAPfihre, the department’s financial management system. The mandatory requirement to use BUYiT strengthens procurement governance, performance and reporting. The system supports the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines, and allows the department to meet procurement and contracting requirements with minor impact on its key business areas. Key achievements in 2006–07 include the modification and enhancement of BUYiT to improve procurement and reporting.
